Israel: 42,000 women apply for gun permits after Hamas attack on October 7, many start training for shooting

42 thousand women applied

According to the data of the Israeli Security Ministry, after last year’s attacks, 42 thousand women have applied for gun permits, out of which 18 thousand women have been approved. This figure is three times the number of women’s gun permits before the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

10 thousand women got admission in training center

According to the Israeli Security Ministry, more than 15 thousand women citizens in Israel and the occupied West Bank now have guns. At the same time, 10 thousand women have taken admission in training centers to use them. Recently, the Israeli government also relaxed the laws for getting a gun license.

According to the AFP report, more than 1100 Israeli people, mostly civilians, were killed in the attack by Hamas on 7 October 2023. At least 37 thousand 431 people have been killed in Gaza in Israel’s retaliatory attack.

‘I will be able to defend myself after training’

According to the AFP report, Limor Gonen, an Israeli citizen and professor of political science, is taking gun training. She said, “I never thought of buying a weapon or getting a license, but after 7 October 2023 things have changed a bit. We are all targeted so I am trying to defend myself. After training, I will be able to protect myself from any attack and protect others.”
